The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), established in July 1950 under the Bombay Provincial Corporation Act, 1949, is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city of Ahmedabad. However under “Vanche Gujarat” Mission under visionary leadership of the then Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi, AMC organised 1st edition of Amdavad National Book Fair from 1st May 2012 to 7th May 2012. It was a great success with the Sabarmati River Serving as a picturesque backdrop at the Riverfront. The 7-day book festival comprised of panel discussions with renowned authors, interactive & fun activities, workshops for children, a platform for Yuva to showcase their talent and engage with local and celebrated artists through cultural performances. Since then AMC has successfully organized 8 book fairs.
